Spring Allergies & Lash Extensions: What You Need to Know

If you’ve been feeling the itch, the puffiness, or the general irritation around your eyes lately- you’re not alone. Spring has definitely sprung, and with it comes dust, pollen, and all the allergy symptoms that tag along for the ride

As someone who suffers from year-round allergies, I know this season can be especially tough. And when you wear lash extensions, it can feel even worse.

But here’s something most people don’t realize:

Your lashes are actually doing their job.

Our natural eyelashes are designed to catch dust and debris before it reaches our eyes - and when you add extensions, they become even more effective at it. Which means:

  • More pollen

  • More dust

  • More potential for irritation

So if your eyes have felt itchy, heavy, or just not quite right, it might not be the lash extensions themselves. It’s what they’re collecting throughout the day.

What’s the solution? Wash. Your. Lashes.

I say it all the time but it’s worth repeating.

Clean lashes = comfortable, long-lasting lashes.

If you’re experiencing irritation, the best thing you can do is give your lashes a good cleanse with a gentle, lash-safe foaming cleanser (like Cloud Bath). Washing removes the buildup of allergens, makeup, and natural oils - all things that can cause inflammation and poor retention if left behind.

Just think of it like this:

Would you go to bed without washing your face during allergy season? Probably not. So don’t skip your lash line either.

Final Thoughts

Spring is a beautiful time of year, but it’s not always kind to allergy sufferers - especially those of us who wear lash extensions.

The good news is that with a few small tweaks (like daily cleansing), you can keep your lashes looking great and your eyes feeling comfortable.
