Thinking about getting lash extensions before your big trip? Here’s what I typically recommend - especially if you’re new to lashes or new to me.
Every now and then, I’ll get a message from someone saying they’re going on vacation and want to get lash extensions right before their trip so they can “wake up and go.”
I get it. When you’re heading out of town, the last thing you want to do is spend forever getting ready. Lash extensions are the perfect solution to feel a little more polished with a lot less effort.
But here’s the thing… if you’ve never had lash extensions before, or you’ve had them in the past but this is your first time seeing me, my recommendation is always the same:
Get your lashes done at least 2-3 weeks before your trip.
Why? Because there’s always a small risk of an allergic reaction. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it usually shows up within 24-48 hours of getting lash extensions. And the last thing you want is to be dealing with red, itchy, swollen eyes on vacation… or trying to track down a lash artist in another city to remove them safely.
Even if you’ve had lashes in the past, your body can develop sensitivities over time. Allergies can pop up after repeated exposure to the adhesive. And while LED lash technology speeds up the curing process and reduces irritation for most people ,the main ingredient in LED adhesive is still the same as traditional lash glue. So if you’ve had a reaction before, there’s still a chance it could happen again.
That’s why, for big events or travel, I suggest doing your full set a few weeks in advance. Then, once we know your eyes ae happy and your lashes are holding up, you can come in for a quick touch-up the week of your trip to make sure everything looks fresh.
This has been my go-to adhesive for years. Especially for first-time clients, brides, and busy women heading out of town who want to look good without worrying about maintenance.
If you’re planning a trip and you’ve been thinking about getting lash extensions, feel free to reach out and I’ll help you decide what’s best for your timeline. There’s nothing worse than stressing over beauty treatments right before you’re supposed to relax.
